A major problem with many adults and adolescents, is test anxiety. As adults we are often required to complete course work associated with our employment or 're-tooling' and as students we are faced with a continuous onslaught of tests, reviews and exams. It's natural and useful to feel some anxiety before taking a test or an exam, this is the normal 'butterflies' we all feel before taking part in something important. When these feeling are manageable, they provide us with extra energy to complete the task and a 'sharpness' of mind that assists us in recalling information. However, when the anxiety is overwhelming we 'blank out' and often feel too exhausted to complete or even begin the work. Many hours are spent worrying about the test instead of studying and we often arrive at class feeling exhausted and 'blank'. Over a series of sessions, Dr. de Jong will provide you with the structure and tools necessary to reduce and control your anxiety.
